This year's All-SEC team would beat..

the Detroit Lions, and give Cleveland or STL all they could handle

    ima use the Lions, they were the first team I thought of;

    Lions starting QB-Matt Stafford
    SEC QB-Tim Tebow(UF)
    adv-SEC

    Lions starting RB-Kevin Smith
SEC RB-Charles Scott (LSU) ((could be 5 different guys))*
    adv-SEC

    DET starting WR#1-Calvin Johnson**
    SEC WR 1-AJ Green(UGA)***
    adv-DET

    DET WR2-Bryant Johnson
    SEC WR2-Julio Jones(BAMA)
    adv-SEC

    DET TE-Brandon Pettigrew
    SEC TE-Richard ****son(LSU)
    adv-DET

    DET OT's-Cherlius, Backus****
    SEC OT's-Ciron Black(LSU), John Jerry(MISS)
    adv-PUSH

    DET G's-Loper, Peterman
    SEC G's-Ma. Pouncey(UF), Mike Johnson(BAMA)
    adv.-DET

    DET C-Raiola
    SEC C-Josh McNeil(UT)
    adv-SEC

    DET DE's-Jason Hunter, Dewayne White
    SEC DE's-Carlos Dunlap(UF), Antonio Coleman(AUB)*****
    adv-SEC

    DET DT's-Grady Jackson, Sammie Hill
    SEC DT's-Terrence Cody(BAMA), Geno Atkins(UGA)******
    adv-SEC

DET LB's-Ernie Sims, Larry Foote, Julian Peterson*******
SEC LB's-Brandon Spikes(UF), Rolando McClain, Eric Norwood
    adv-SEC

    DET CB's-Anthony Henry, Phillip Buchanon
    SEC CB's-Trevard Linley, Janoris Jenkis********
    adv-SEC

    DET S's-Louis Delmas, Kalvin Pearson
    SEC S's-Eric Berry, Ahmad Black
    adv-SEC

    okay, now lets add them all up;
    DET position wins-3
    SEC-8

Therefore, I predict that the postseason All-SEC team would beat the Lions, by a TD at least.

if anyone is interested, i like doin **** like this, so if you want to suggest a team that could beat another team, i.e. All Big XII v. All Pac10, or All-SEC vs. All-rest of nation.

    ima add some notes;
*Bryce Brown or Mark Ingram were VERY close to being my pick for RB.

**Calvin Johnson is the best WR in the NFL, and if he ever gets a good QB and a good running game to help, he will be the best EVER.

***If it was any WR in the NFL aside from Fitz, Calvin, Boldin, Moss,Andre Johnson, I would have probably put AJ Green ahead. He will be a top 10 pick, and a NFL superstar. He is Randy Moss Jr., just like Julio is TO-lite. Julio is a bigger, faster, tougher, better hands Terrell Owens, and Green is a Moss clone.

****The SEC OT's are great, really good players, but Cherlius is a great player as well, he is at least as good as Black.

*****Carlos Dunlap by himself is better than the Detroit DE's. Not really, but he will be a top 10 draft pick, and he will average 10+ sacks in the NFL.

******Terrence Cody is like a super-Grady Jackson. I didnt do that intentionally, but Jackson is a lot like Cody. But Cody is bigger, stronger, faster.

*******Here is the most controversial pick. Detroit's LB's are their best position on the team, they have three good, very capable starters, with one being a former All-NFL player in Peterson. But, the SEC has three great LB's, three that all will be as good as Peterson, or better. McClain, Spikes and Norwood will all be 1st round picks, Rolando and Spikes will be top 15 picks, talent wise.

********Jenkins is great, he will be a 1st round pick, but I could have put anyone. Truth be told, Patrick Peterson at LSU could be the best CB, just not yet. He could potentially be a top 5 pick. I thought about Haden too, but his size is not as good as Jenkins.

*********Eric Berry makes the S's better by a mile. There is only 3-4 S's in the NFL that are better than Berry right now. Ed Reed, Polomalu, Otougwe, that might be all that I would say are better than EB right now.

I'd take Hardesty over Brown right now.

Well, I was talking just in terms of pure talent. Brown's talent is evident every time he touches the ball, he will be a great one.
Hardesty has looked GREAT today, he is a beast, but I feel like in three years, Brown will be better than Hardesty ever was.

not a chance. you put any college team against the worst of the worst of the NFL and the NFL team will win. the all SEC team would still be all rookies against (mostly) proven NFL talent. Stafford would school Tebow if they squared off with the team's you suggest. Tebow will have a big learning curve when he gets to the NFL. don't get me wrong, as a UT fan it hurts me to say but I LOVE to watch TEBOW play, think he is a great player but right now his style doesn't translate great to the NFL. I do think he will play on Sundays, or at least hold a clipboard.
sorry, I disagree that the All SEC team could beat the Lions

Agreed on long term. I'm talking about a team right now.

Starbuck, I think that's the point. Any college team wouldn't because you've got weak points on your team. An SEC all conference team could be a very different story.

I don't think so, even an All SEC team would be lost with the speed of the pro game. Look at how many top picks in the draft are lost.

    im sorry, you are wrong.

the All-SEC team will have at least 10 first round picks, if they all go Pro.

the SEC players are proven, they play in the toughest conference, against other nfl-caliber players. Stafford sucks, he has a cannon but he is very inaccurate and throws tons of picks.

If you disagree, what positions would the Lions have over the all-SEC team?
How would the Lions beat them? They would not be able to run the ball, the SEC team would kill the Lions running game. I would bet the Lions would have less than 75 yards rushing. There is no way the Lions could run the ball on that front seven.
the All-SEC front seven would be almost as good as any front seven in the NFL.
They are gonna pass on them? How? bracket coverage on Calvin, the Lions are shut down.
Could the Lions stop the SEC team? Doubtful.
The all-SEC WR's are better than the Detroit CB's by a mile.

There is no way the Lions could beat the All-SEC team.
Detroit would beat Florida, but everyone off the All-SEC team will be drafted, probably in the first 4 rounds.

But since you dont think so, play it out.
Show me how the Lions could possibly beat the All-SEC team

I think what Biggin' is saying though, is that the players are better than what the Lions have. If the Lions were able to draft all of those players, they'd be starting over who they have.

rookies against proven vets, not even close IMO. Rookies, no matter where they are from ,are still rookies. Individual's may me more talented but if that is all it would take the Cowboys or Redskins would have "bought" them a ring by now. the long term potential of these players is huge, no doubt but as rookies, sorry but a few will also be bust.

Re: This year's All-SEC team would beat..

but the few that you say will be a 'bust' are STILL better than the Lions players.

you seem like you wont change your mind at all, im sorry that you cant fathom that a team with better players would beat a team with lesser players.

how many of the Lions are proven vets? 2. that right, they have 2!!! proven players.
    Calvin and Julian Peterson

you obviously dont realize how good the All-SEC team will be. i think when more people start posting, you will realize you are wrong
